Frequently Asked Questions
What Sizes Do You Offer?
Oaklentra offers acoustic wood slat panels in multiple sizes to suit different residential and commercial projects:
-
25.2" x 94.5" — approximately 2 x 8 feet
-
25.2" x 118.1" — approximately 2 x 10 feet
-
23.6" x 23.6" — approximately 2 x 2 feet
Our larger panels can be cut to size for a seamless installation and customized to fit your space.
What Are Oaklentra Slat Panels Made Of?
Our acoustic wood slat panels are made using real wood veneer, MDF slats, and acoustic felt backing.
The panels feature approximately 0.35" recycled PET polyester acoustic felt, with MDF slats finished in real wood veneer.
Each slat is approximately 1.02" x 0.47", with approximately 0.55" spacing between the slats.
This construction provides the natural appearance of real wood while delivering acoustic performance and long-term durability.
What Are the Benefits of Wood Veneer and Felt Compared to Hardwood?
Oaklentra uses real wood veneer over MDF with acoustic felt backing for several reasons.
1. Cost
Real wood veneer provides the premium appearance of hardwood at a more accessible price. The acoustic felt backing also helps improve sound absorption while utilizing sustainable materials.
2. Durability
MDF with real wood veneer is dimensionally stable and less susceptible to the natural expansion, contraction, and movement commonly associated with solid hardwood.
3. Consistency
Wood veneer provides a more consistent appearance across multiple panels, creating a clean and uniform finish throughout your project.
Because real wood is used, some natural variation in grain and tone may still occur.
Can Oaklentra Slat Panels Be Cut to Size?
Yes.
Our wood slat panels can be cut to accommodate walls, ceilings, corners, outlets, switches, and other architectural features.
For the cleanest result, we recommend using a sharp wood saw blade suitable for cutting MDF and wood veneer.
Always measure carefully before cutting.
Are Wood Slat Panels Difficult to Clean?
No. Oaklentra panels require very little maintenance.
For regular cleaning, simply use a clean, dry, soft cloth or a soft brush attachment to remove dust.
For additional protection, a suitable wood oil or clear wood finish may be applied to the veneer if desired.
Always test any cleaning or finishing product on a small, discreet area before applying it to the entire panel.
Can the Panels Be Stained or Painted?
Yes.
Our wood veneer panels can generally be stained, oiled, or painted to create a customized finish.
Many customers choose to install the panels with their original natural wood appearance.
If applying a stain, paint, or oil, we recommend testing the product on a small area first because different finishes may affect the appearance of the wood.
Are Different Colors Available?
Yes.
Oaklentra offers a variety of natural wood tones designed to complement modern, traditional, minimalist, and contemporary interiors.
Available finishes may vary depending on inventory.
You can view the latest color and finish options directly on our product pages.

Availability of special sizing or volume orders may depend on project size and product availability.
What Is the Best Way to Install Oaklentra Panels?
There are three common installation methods.
1. Adhesive Installation
Panels can be installed directly onto a suitable wall using a strong construction adhesive or grab adhesive.
Make sure the surface is clean, dry, level, and suitable for adhesive installation.
2. Screwing Directly Into the Wall — Recommended
Panels can be screwed directly through the acoustic felt and into the wall.
Black screws are recommended for panels with black acoustic backing so the fixings remain discreet.
Always use screws and wall anchors appropriate for your wall type.
When installing on ceilings, panels must be properly secured into structural supports such as ceiling joists.
3. Installing Onto Timber Battens — Best for Acoustic Performance
For enhanced acoustic performance, timber battens can first be installed onto the wall.
The acoustic panels are then screwed through the felt backing and into the battens.
Acoustic insulation such as mineral wool may also be installed between the battens to further improve sound absorption.
Always follow appropriate construction and safety practices for your specific installation.
Are Oaklentra Panels Fire Rated?
Fire-rating specifications depend on the specific product and construction.
Where a fire-rating certification is shown on a product page, please refer to the certification and technical information provided for that specific product.
For commercial projects or installations requiring a particular building-code classification, please contact our support team before ordering.

Do Slat Panels Help Absorb Sound?
Yes.
The combination of wood slats and acoustic felt can help reduce sound reflections and improve the acoustic comfort of a room.
Performance will depend on factors including the installation method, wall construction, room size, placement of the panels, and whether additional acoustic insulation is installed behind them.
For maximum acoustic performance, installing the panels over timber battens with acoustic insulation behind them is generally recommended.
Are the Panels Soundproof?
Acoustic panels and soundproofing are not the same thing.
Oaklentra acoustic panels are designed primarily to help absorb reflections, reduce echo, and improve the acoustic quality inside a room.
They are not intended to completely prevent sound from entering or leaving a room.
True soundproofing typically requires additional construction materials and isolation techniques.
Can I Install the Panels on a Ceiling?
Yes.
Oaklentra panels can be installed on ceilings when properly secured.
Ceiling installations should use appropriate mechanical fixings into structural supports rather than relying only on adhesive.
For larger installations, we recommend using a qualified installer.
Can the Panels Be Installed Around Electrical Outlets and Switches?
Yes.
The panels can be measured and carefully cut around electrical outlets, switches, lighting controls, and similar fixtures.
Always turn off electrical power before working around electrical components and use a qualified professional when required.
Are the Panels Suitable for Bathrooms or Outdoor Areas?
Our standard wood slat panels are primarily designed for dry interior environments.
We do not recommend installing standard panels outdoors, in showers, or in areas exposed directly to water or excessive moisture unless the specific product page states that the panel is suitable for those conditions.
Will the Wood Look Exactly the Same as the Product Photos?
Because our panels use real wood veneer, natural variations in grain, pattern, and tone can occur.
These variations are part of the character of real wood and mean that every panel can have a slightly unique appearance.
Screen settings and lighting conditions may also cause colors to appear slightly different in person.
